Steve has been in the marketing and real estate business more than twenty years.
In 1988, at the age of 23, Steve attended Investors School of Real Estate and obtained his real estate license. At the time, Investors Realty was the largest real estate brokerage firm in Tallahassee.
Steve decided to initiate his real estate career in South Florida and Lighthouse Point, where he later met his wife, Debbie. He became a top producer in the area as a RE/Max Dynamic Broker-Associate selling homes from Coral Springs and Parkland to Lighthouse point and Fort Lauderdale.
In 1993, about a year after Hurricane Andrew and the birth of his first daughter, despite a booming Broward market migrating north from the aftermath of the storm, he decided to relocate his small family to the Tallahassee area, a market one-tenth the size of the overcrowded South Florida but closer to his family and St. George Island, where he spent most summers and holidays away from his hometown of Smyrna, Ga. Continuing his affiliation with RE/Max his sales production ranked #2 in 1994 and Steve has won many awards for his service and production for more than a decade since then. Ironically, Steve was also a broker-associate with Investors Realty in 1997. The relationship, however, would last only six months before he opted to rejoin RE/Max a year later in 1998.
There have been many spin-offs from Investors associates and arguably Investors Associates spanning the last thirty years have played an integral role in direction and pace of the Tallahassee real estate market. It would be difficult to find anybody in Tallahassee who does not recognize the Investors name or brand, bought or sold a house with Investors, or knows somebody who has worked at Investors.
Despite this tremendous investment of capital and goodwill the last quarter century, in November 2000, the owner of Investors Realty, following suit with other independent firms going the franchise route, opted to morph into an Arvida franchise, with a billion-dollars in the bank and no debt, not to mention the largest land owner in Florida, a St. Joe Company. For about a year, the former Investors group operated under the Arvida brand and formerly dissolved the old Investors in November 2000.
Then on December 24, 2001, Steve decided to take a monumental risk which would later prove to be one of the most significant of his lifetime.
Since that day, officially starting on January 1, 2002, Steve has quietly helped some of the brightest in the business go on to realize their potential becoming some of Tallahassee's top associates. Investors Realty today is one of the premier independent real estate firms in the region and is in the top 10% of more than 300 other local firms for production, which is approaching $100 Million since 2002.
Now 41, as a dynamic leader, motivator and coach, Steve is excited about sharing his knowledge and expertise with hundreds of associates to come and is looking forward to taking the company to a whole new level. |
